MTD Remembers September 11, 2001

blog-stock-new

Twenty years have passed since that fateful day when the United States was attacked by terrorists.

More than 600 union members – most of them first responders and flight crews – were among the almost 3,000 who died on September 11, 2001.

The MTD salutes the many brave people known and unknown who responded to the World Trade Center in New York City, at the Pentagon in Northern Virginia, and aboard United Flight 93 above the skies of Pennsylvania. Their efforts will never be forgotten.

Among the responders was the largest maritime flotilla ever assembled to rescue people. Casual boaters joined professional mariners to move hundreds of thousands of stranded commuters, office workers and others from Manhattan that day.
