Hawaii Ports Council Hits The Bricks for Hotel Workers

The Hawaii Ports Maritime Council shows its solidarity with Hotel Workers in a demonstration outside the Hyatt in Honolulu.

Representatives from several locals affiliated with the Hawaii Ports Maritime Council showed their solidarity by marching with UNITE HERE! members outside the Hyatt in Honolulu during that union’s one-week protest against the chain in early September.

UNITE HERE! members took the action in Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco as well as Honolulu seeking a fair contract from Hyatt. The union members also are calling attention to the poor treatment shown to housekeepers across the country.

“We know an injustice to one is an injustice to all,” said PMC President Randy Swindell. “We wanted the Hotel Workers to know we are with them in this fight.”
