In a first for the union, Actors’ Equity announced it had reached an agreement with Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) to cover members on the company’s new vessel, the Norwegian Bliss, while it was docked in New York City May 3-5.
Under the agreement, actors received an additional $575 per day and stage managers collected $750 daily to their NCL salaries. This was the first time a full Equity cast has been used aboard a cruise ship.
The contract covered work performed in two venues aboard the Bahamian-registered Norwegian Bliss.
Actors’ Equity represents more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers across the United States.
