More than 60 union members and friends from across Florida participated in the second annual charity “Shoot for a Cure” hosted by the Greater South Florida Maritime Trades Council.

A special participant was Frank Biden, brother of Vice President Joe Biden. Frank Biden told those attending that this was special to him not just because of the loss of his brother’s son (Beau) to cancer. The south Florida resident also has been battling leukemia for the last several years.

The May 27 clay-shoot event raised more than $15,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

“We had a wonderful time,” stated PMC Vice President Kris Hopkins. “Our event grew in numbers because those who participated last year help spread the good word. Everyone was very willing and happy to help this important cause.”
