As the Maritime Trades Department, AFL-CIO prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary in August, the department is proud to announce that the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) has become its newest affiliate.
AFGE President J. David Cox said his union is very appreciative to become part of the MTD. AFGE represents working men and women within the Saint Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation.
MTD President Michael Sacco welcomed the affiliate by saying, “AFGE is a very strong and proud union which works hard for its members. We are glad AFGE has come aboard and look forward to working with its membership.”
With the addition of AFGE, the MTD has 22 affiliates whose membership totals more than 5 million working women and men in the U.S. and Canada.
